Storm Academy (Ages 4-10): The UVHA's first introduction to hockey, focused on individual skating development for players aged four through ten. Mid-season advancement to subsequent age-appropriate programming is allowed, with coach approval. Storm Academy practices twice weekly at the Wendell A. Barwood Arena. The practices typically occur on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
House Mites (Ages 4-8): The UVHA's learn-to-play program, open to players who have graduated from Storm Academy and are ready for an introduction to the game of hockey. House Mites practice twice weekly and participate in cross-ice scrimmages on weekends. Families can expect occasional travel to other local rinks and at least one Vermont jamboree.
Travel Mites (Ages 7-8): The UVHA's 8U travel hockey program for players ready to compete in cross-ice hockey games throughout Vermont and into New Hampshire. Travel Mites practice twice weekly and play cross-ice games on weekends, both home at the Wendell A. Barwood Arena and away. Families can expect participation in three Vermont jamborees.
Squirt 10U (2013 & 2014 Birth Years): Full-ice, competitive travel hockey for players aged nine and ten. 10U hockey is non-checking. Team placement is determined following a fall skill assessment. Players who do not display prerequisite skills outlined by USA Hockey's Skill Progressions manual are not guaranteed placement. Squirts practice twice weekly, with an optional bi-weekly skating clinic, and weekend games played throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. Families can expect participation in at least one UVHA-sponsored tournament.
Peewee 12U (2011 & 2012 Birth Years): Full-ice, competitive travel hockey for players aged eleven and twelve. 12U hockey is non-checking.
