In Laconia, NH the Upper Valley Hockey Association's Tier III U12 team battled through the preliminary round of the State tournament, starting first with a 1-1 tie with Rochester thanks to a Storm goal scored by VJ Sites, assisted by Mason Ballard. In the second game, the team suffered a hard fought 3-2 loss to Keene with goals from Ryder Desharnais and Ronan Przydzielski, assisted from Colin Morlock and Sam McDonnell.

Things heated up on Sunday: the Storm beat the #1 seed, Lakes Region, 2-1 that morning, with Will Hopkins delivering the first goal to fire up the team, followed by the game winner by Colton Gaudette; assist from Mason Ballard. Later that afternoon, the Storm clinched the championship title with a dominant 6-2 win over Keene, paced by two goals from both Colin Morlock and Ronan Przydzielski, and single goals from Reed Ferland and Sam McDonnell. Assists on goals were from Mason Ballard, Madison Barwood, Ronan Przydzielski, Sam McDonnell and Ryder Desharnais. The Storm also received major contributions from Owen Nichols' solid defense and Finn "The Wall" Ware who provided excellent goaltending all weekend long. A total team effort from start to finish.

The Storm will look to build off their success when they travel to Waterbury, Vermont for the New England regional tournament to compete against the top Tier III teams in New England the weekend of March 13th-15th. The Storm was missing one valuable player during States, CJ Gogan, who will be rejoining the team to play in Waterbury.

PW1 NH Tier 2: After driving through the winners bracket with 9-0 and 5-1 wins over #4 Concord and #2 Dover, the #1 seeded PeeWee1 team faced Concord again who had advanced through the losers bracket.  A well-coached Concord team came out with a well-executed game plan and took a 1-0 lead in the first on a broken play that resulted in a wrap-around goal on Aiden "The Snowman" Snow.  The Storm tied the game in the second on a beautiful rush by defenseman Cavan Benjamin who fed Ryder Wilson to the right of the Concord goaltender.  Wilson slid a quick backhander 5-hole to even the score.  It was a chess-match as the high-powered Storm offense continued to press and forwards Logan Caffrey, Ben Clary, Nick Daniels, Keegan Dannehy, JoJo Drent, Ian Surgenor, Ryder Wilson pumped 14 shots on goal trying to break the tie.  An outstanding effort by defenseman Aiden Bean, Cavan Benjamin, Gavin Miller & Braelyn Park held Concord to zero shots in the third period, but regulation ended in a 1-1 tie.

It took 3 overtimes of nail-biting hockey as both teams traded chances and both goaltenders stood up to the challenge before Cavan Benjamin kept a puck in on the right side and battled below the goal line before finding Nick "Tricky Nicky" Daniels in the high slot all alone.  Daniels buried a quick wrister with a minute to play in the 3rd OT, high blocker side sending the Storm Bench and ice into chaos with sticks, gloves and helmets flying.

It was an amazing effort from an amazing group of boys(and girl).  Every player contributed both on and off the scoresheet.  The Storm PW1 team will head to Warwick, RI for Regionals to take on the top Tier 2 teams in New England on March 13th-15th.

Storm Peewee 2 Wins NH Tier 3 State Championship!

By Kelly Park 03/05/2020, 11:30am EST

Peewee Tier 3 State Champs

ROSTER: Defensemen: Aiden Bean, Cavan Benjamin, Gavin Miller & Braelyn Park. Forwards: Logan Caffrey, Ben Clary, Nick Daniels, Keegan Dannehy, JoJo Drent, Ian Surgenor, Ryder Wilson. Goaltender: Aiden Snow.  Coaches: Mark Bean, Tom Daniels, Les Drent & Kelly Park(HC).

Storm Squirt 2 are New Hampshire Tier 5 State Champs

The UVHA's Squirt 2 team are the Tier V Granite State League champions!!! We won our first game of the weekend, beating Rochester 3-2 in a nailbiter of a game. The kids then played the #1 seed, previously undefeated Manchester, Saturday afternoon and won 1-0. We then advanced to play Concord Sunday and won 2-0, earning a spot in the tournament final to face Manchester once again. Manchester came to play, but the kids didn't give up, clinching the title with less than a minute left to play in overtime for a 4-3 victory. It was a great weekend! We look forward to the banner hanging ceremony at the Skate-a-thon on Thursday, March 12th.
